Consulting with Service Users

A number of workshops/ meetings were held throughout September, October and November to consult with service users in relation to what they consider should be taught within the qualification.

At the time of writing over 60 service users have fed back a preference to see qualified advocates and have suggested that the course is, in part, delivered by service users.  The need for ‘trainees' to undergo placement experience has also been raised as an important issue.

Part of the workshops have been spent drawing what a good advocate would look like (and therefore what they should be trained in).  To see the pictures click on the links below.

Special thanks go to members and staff of the following organisations who gave generously of their time to contribute to the project:

Cloverleaf
Be Heard Bracknell
NYAS
User Support Services
East Lancashire Advocacy
Calderdale Self Advocacy Group
