Working Group

The AWARD Working Group was set up at the very beginning of the project to ensure that key decisions were taken by people who were 'experts' in advocacy or training issues.

It was felt that the development of a National Qualification in Advocacy should be informed and owned by the advocacy sector. To this end, invites were circulated amonst national networks for representatives to nominate onto the group. A total of 31 people are currently on the group, including service users, advocates, advocacy trainers and advocacy managers from a broad range of advocacy specialisms.

The aims of the Working Group are to;

  • Provide expertise in advocacy to ensure the qualification is relevant to advocates
  • Make decisions about the content, length and level
  • Make decisions about the type of qualification developed
  • Ensure local and regional networks are kept up to date with progress
  • Represent the views and interests of local and regional advocacy groups and networks.
